Is VoucherMatch really free for tenants?
Yes, 100% free. We'll never charge voucher holders to search for housing, apply to apartments, or use any feature on the platform. Landlords pay for premium features, not tenants.
Do all landlords on VoucherMatch accept Section 8?
Yes. Every landlord who lists on VoucherMatch has agreed to accept Section 8 vouchers. That's our entire purpose—no more wasting time on landlords who'll reject you.
What voucher types are accepted?
All NYC-issued housing vouchers including CityFHEPS, FHEPS, Section 8 (HCV), HASA, SOTA, and others. Each listing shows which voucher types the landlord accepts.
How do I apply to apartments?
Create a free account, upload your documents once (voucher, ID, income verification), then apply to any listing with one click. Landlords can see your complete application immediately.
Can I get alerts for new listings?
Yes! Save your search criteria and we'll email you when new apartments match. You can also save individual listings to track.

Is it free to list my property?
Yes, basic listings are free. We offer optional premium features (Featured Listings, Priority Placement) if you want more visibility, but the core platform is free.

Is VoucherMatch affiliated with NYCHA or HPD?
No. We're an independent platform built by New Yorkers to make Section 8 housing easier. We're not a government agency and don't have access to government systems.
How do you verify landlords?
Landlords verify their identity and property ownership when creating an account. We also monitor for complaints and remove bad actors quickly.
What if I experience discrimination?
